Starter help for newbies
When I first started EL, a friend met me at the beam and brought along a few basic ingredients and tools. He spent maybe 10 minutes showing me how to make fire essences and fur gloves, how to trade, how to /pm. He gave me some basic tips on getting around, and left me me a few needles and a pair of leather gloves. It was very useful and a nice way to get an idea of some of the neat things you can do in EL.
Talking about this with Bonka, she thought of other things that would be helpful to newbies: how to light a fire and cook meat, how to get to the crystal caves in DP, how to communicate with bots, and so on - all the stuff that is so confusing when you start. Sure, it's all in the in-game encyclopedia, somewhere, but it's pretty daunting for a newbie (I remember it well!).
So perhaps, as a guild, we could do something to help newbies get started. I'm not sure about the details. I asked the friend who helped me out that first day what he thought , and he mentioned a couple of possibilities. For a while, the RICH guild (not his guild) apparently would provide newbies with basic ingredients, and have them make stuff for the guild. it is not against the rules, but you cannot guarantee that you will get the product back at the end. Another option is to hold contests, and give the winner starting kits containing enough ingredients and tools to make a few things. There may be other ways too.
From the guild's perspective, it's a good service to the community and it could be a nice way to get people to know us, and to meet and get to know prospective members of Troy. We wouldn't need to advertise openly. Any thoughts?

Here! Here! I like this idea too. maybe schedule some weekend to do this when more Newbies are on. (peerhaps one weekend/month. I thought oh! time would be a problem as our guild is International, but it might work out for better to cover all times as much as we could. We need a bit more input.
Also If we finish the HEs project, maybe portion could be sold for the "newbie kits"

i think bonka and eigen will be our "howto writers"
I think the first 2 rules a newbie has to follow are :
1 - don't die
2 - obey the first rule
lot's of newbie don't understand the importance of keeping their stuff...
